“The Relations Are Reversed”
RISD DRI First Group Exhibition “Moment”
August 2011 | Seoul, Korea
Size: 5’ 6” x 4’ x 6”
Wire, wire mesh, oil paints on canvas, theatre seat

As much as efficiency is now readily considered a major asset in almost every area of the modern society, speed has become a rising quality to this possess. Hence the modern society overlooks the entities that exist between the starting and ending points – the means that lead to the end. The DRI first exhibition called attention to these overlooked “moments”.

Performing arts are often called as the art of infinite moments. However, from the view of the audience, which can be considered fragmentary, the attractiveness of moments cannot be noticed because of the constant change in the performing arts.
During our lifetime, only a few are able to look towards a theatre’s seating area while the stage becomes a space full of dynamic creations and transformations. This project allows for the roles of the actor and audience to be reversed, creating an entirely new view for both parties.
